DON'T READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THIS BOOK "The Host" YET AND PLAN TO. I MIGHT RUIN IT FOR YOU!!! If you have read it, let me know what you thought.I am a HUGE fan of the Twilight series. I felt a little weird about reading those books at first since Vampires don't typically send my heart all a flutter. BUT... I.LOVED.THOSE.BOOKS.
That being said, this book from the same author, Stephenie Meyer, threw me. It was a bit disturbing.
My take is this...an alien species comes to earth and is implanted into the brains (so to speak) of humans. In many instances the human fades away and the "soul" inside it, or the alien life form, is all that is left. All I kept thinking was Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I'm sorry, but I did see that movie when I was really young. I hated "Wanderer" in the beginning. And all I felt was sad for Melanie who was taken against her will and changed forever. What the Heck? Who comes up with these stories? Who thinks of this kind of stuff.
In the end, I enjoyed the book. It brought out a lot of different emotions for me.
Hatred, anger, sorrow and amazingly....happiness.
A good read, expect to be surprised. I don't think it was fabulous...sorry guys...but I was hooked. Maybe if I get others take on it I will feel differently.
