Youth Conference Fun

I have spent 3 full days packing, unpacking, preparing, cooking, cleaning up, packing and unpacking again.

Yes, I was in charge of all the food for 40 youth and 10 - 15 adult leaders.

Fun, Fun, Fun.

Actually, it really was.

We stayed at Aspen Grove Campground which is about 30 minutes South of Heber City. BEAUTIFUL.

I didn't get to spend a lot of time with the kids because I was head cook, but it was still fun in a different sort of way. And I had lots of help from some great women and one great YM leader who is the dutch oven, camping master.

Remember this post about the YW that ran away. Well, she has been in a program for many months that has been helping her. But she recently has been able to come home on weekends for visits and she came to church last Sunday and got to come with us to Youth Conference for 2 days.

To see the positive changes in her, and hear her bear her testimony that she knows that she has a Heavenly Father and a Savior who love her. Of course I bawled like a baby. That is the girl that I remember from 2 years ago. She still has a ways to go, but what a blessing she is to all of us.

I was totally filthy, but it was a blast. I love working with the youth. As hard as it is to be away from my family, I love being there to watch the YW grow, mature and hear their testimonies get stronger. This is the 3rd summer that I have spent 2 weeks away with the youth, and Paul and the kids have been home holding down the fort but they have been so awesome. It is hard to leave home, but I love coming home to everyone missing me and happy to have me back.

Next up: Girls camp just 2 weeks away.
