Major snow storm and Soldier Hollow

We had a fun day today! I haven't posted pictures of the kids in a while so I thought I would get these up quick..or it might not get done at all.

Paul's work does a fun family Christmas party at Soldier Hollow every year where they rent the clubhouse out for 3 hours and pay for our families to go tubing down the mountain. And they feed us lunch...SWEET!

It started at 9:30 am so we left our house at 8:30 and the roads were great. It was windy going up Parley's Canyon but otherwise a smooth ride.
Once we arrived, we got the kids all bundled up, ya know, like in Christmas story.... "I can't put my arms down" bundled up.

And yes, I even went. I haven't done something like this in YEARS. I'm usually the one sitting out with a baby or toddler who is too cold etc. but this year, Paul was not going to let me sit out.

The best part was, you get to sit on your tube and they have a line that PULLS you up. Thats right, no walking up the hill required. I admit it would have done my "junk in the trunk" some good to do a bit of uphill walking but alas, I was very happy to see that I got to ride.

It only took Abby 2 downhill rides to figure out she didn't like it much so Paul went in with her and Emilee. I rode down the hill with Hailey and Kamille and then went in so Paul could come back out.

It was a lot of fun for us as a family.

The ride home, on the other hand, was not so fun. We had a movie going in the burb so the kids were great, but it was (for me) white knuckle. Paul is so awesome at the snow driving stuff. Parley's was a complete white out blizzard. The closer we got to the hill going back to Salt Lake the worse the snow got. It was a literal crawl up the mountain. Lots of slide offs, big rigs pulled over putting on chains and small cars spinning their tires trying to grip the road.
A prayer was in my heart the entire drive.
We made it. All is well. 4 wheel drive is AWESOME. (I love my burb) and I am exhausted.
But a great Friday with family!

A side note: Hailey begins her Olympic Development soccer training tomorrow. Hopefully it is a positive experience for her. She is so excited, and we are excited for her!
